Saint-Exupéry often spoke of the joy of flying, the exhilaration of soaring high into the stratosphere, the beauty of the earth seen from the air. These superb photos of the famous Bréguet XIV in the skies over Morocco give you a sense of what he felt.
It took ten years of hard work and dedication to produce this replica of the airplane that was once the glory of l’Aéropostale. This Bréguet XIV features a few modern instruments, including GPS and a radio system. Flying conditions are pretty much the same as they were 80 years ago: testing.

The story of the rose…
It was because of her that the Little Prince left his planet, and it was also for love of her that the Little Prince let the snake bite him. The rose is a key figure in the world of the Little Prince and for many she represents the women in Saint-Exupéry’s life: mother, sister, confidante, wife.
Here is an exclusive preview for you of the preliminary sketches of the rose made for the animated TV series. At the beginning of each episode, the rose reads the latest letter from the Little Prince… a nod to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who kept in touch with friends and loved ones by means of an abundant flow of correspondence.
Just like the rose in the book, this animated rose is the epitome of refinement and beauty. Actress Marie Gillain lends her voice to this central figure in the forthcoming series. |

Fine art in the online store!
If you’re a collector or a lover of beautiful things, then the online store has something new for you. Editions Michel de Seguins have designed a superb collection of raw pewter figurines. As is so often the case, it was Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s watercolours that inspired these beautifully crafted pieces, made in France.
Each serially numbered figurine comes in its own presentation box and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. |
The Little Prince as seen (again) by Davy!
Davy Mourier is a man of many talents: TV presenter, actor, blogger and graphic artist. Trawling through his blog archive, we came across a tongue-in-cheek continuation of the story: the Little Prince and his sheep are on B612, an asteroid measuring just 50 square metres, and time is hanging heavy on their hands. The sheep complains that there is nothing but baobabs to eat. In return, the Little Price suggests a somewhat improbable way of passing the time.
It’s almost the weekend, so time to have a little fun and find Davy on Badstrip. |
The Little Prince reigns supreme at MIPJunior
The MIP Junior trade show is the international showcase for children’s and youth TV programmes. Professionals gather from all over the world to attend conferences that present the programmes of tomorrow. The Little Prince TV series made a big splash at its first unveiling to the world of broadcasting on 2nd and 3rd October. Our very own Little Prince even made the cover of the junior edition of Variety… THE trade magazine, in Hollywood and around the world. |

Sfar’s Little Prince in the USA
After a splendid world tour, Joan Sfar’s graphic novel has finally reached the shores of the United States. As is only fair, when you remember that Saint-Exupéry wrote The Little Prince during his period of exile in America, at Northport in New Jersey. If your memory needs jogging, you can find the whole history of the making of The Little Prince in the section entitled “Birth of the Book”. 50,000 copies of the US edition of The Little Prince by Joan Sfar have been printed, and you can find your copy in the online store. |
The Little Prince as seen in Silex and the City
We’ve already had occasion to mention Jul, the illustrator, and his quirky take on the Little Prince. The talented artist does it again in volume 2 of his comic series Silex and the City, set in prehistoric times. This time, he gives us the Little Prince as a young teacher trying to cope with his badly behaved Stone Age pupils. We thoroughly enjoyed the light parody and the references to Saint-Exupéry’s tale. |

The Little Prince and Yannick Noah
The Little Prince is one of France’s favourite books, so naturally merits accompaniment by one of France’s favourite personalities. The Saint-Exupéry-d’Agay Estate did not have far to look to find France’s favourite Frenchman – Yannick Noah. Former tennis champion Yannick has gone on to forge a successful career in pop music, with one of his most recent concert appearances under the dome of the Stade de France. The meeting with the Estate was a success, and so it will indeed be Yannick Noah singing the theme tune to the Little Prince TV series, a song entitled De planète en planète (from planet to planet). We’ll be bringing it to you here, very soon.
This isn’t the first encounter between Yannick Noah and the Little Prince, of course. Back in the 1990s, the two friends “teamed up” for a photo as part of an EDF advertising campaign. |
