A friend of the Little Prince has left us

Yogershwor Nath Upraity died on 28 July after a long illness, and will be sadly missed. He was well known to the community of Little Prince collectors, with whom he communicated constantly. In 1987, he translated The Little Prince into Nepali.

The Little Prince takes over Elements!

Elements, in this case, happens to be a Hong Kong department store. All through the month of August, Elements is staging a Little Prince-themed attraction for shoppers. The store has been decorated in colours inspired by the Little Prince, and features a rose garden and a huge reproduction of the elephant inside the boa constrictor.

All sorts of special events are programmed: a magician disguised as a king, a dance show and a musical comedy staged by the cast of the Hong Kong Children’s Musical Theatre. There’s something for collectors, too: Elements has a range of new collectables, including this beautiful porcelain statuette of the Little Prince.

The Planet of Time (5/10)

The Planet of Time (4/10)

Venturing once again to the Planet of Time, the Little Prince follows a path hitherto unknown. The Planet of Time conceals a mystery to be unravelled. To help pass the time until the Little Prince animated series airs on TV in December, we have organised a daily preview of the new planets the Little Prince will be visiting.

The Little Prince of the islands

The publishing house Haere Po is producing a new edition of The Little Prince in Tahitian. It has been translated by John Martin of the Tahitian Academy with the title Te tamaiti ari’I iti. The translator has provided a brief colophon in which he speaks of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s life and explains the choices he made when translating the book from the French. If you are attracted by the various languages of French Polynesia, you may be interested to know that in September Robert Koenig will be publishing a version of The Little Prince in Marquesan.
