An original watercolour illustration from the Little Prince is auctioned in Paris this week.

The signed sketch, which appeared on page 17 of the original 1943 version of the story, is expected to fetch between 400,000 and 500,000 euros ($500,000-600,000), according to auction house Artcurial.

The illustration shows the Turkish astronomer who discovered Asteroid B612, the Little Prince’s planet, pointing at a blackboard of equations and mathematical diagrams.

By far Saint-Exupéry’s most famous work, « The Little Prince » has been translated into more than 270 languages and has touched countless readers around the world.

Artcurial said it is the most widely read book in the world after the Bible.

The book is a series of parables in which a boy prince recounts his adventures among the stars to a downed pilot on Earth. It was published in English and French in New York in 1943.

Himself a pilot, Saint-Exupéry died mysteriously at the age of 44 while on a reconnaissance mission during World War II in 1944. He did not live to see the book’s publication in France following the end of the war in 1946.

The watercolour sketch, measuring 21.3 by 23.9 centimetres, is to go under the hammer on December 9.

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming animated film The Little Prince, based on the cult kids’ book/philosophical tome/allegory machine by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. It is beautiful and it is lovely,  but it’s entirely in French.

The film – directed by Mark Osborne (The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Kung Fu Panda) and featuring the all-star vocal talents of Mackenzie Foy, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro and Ricky Gervais – will be released in two versions: one in French, and one in English.

It hits cinemas in October next year, and an English trailer’s no doubt minutes away.

The Little Prince Park is now ready for Christmas !

It reopens from November 29th to January 4th , to offer wonderful holidays to the visitors !

Open up from november 29th to January 4th, until 7 PM thanks to the installation of a new lighting system, visitors will fly at night in the balloons of the King and the lamplighter, illuminated in the sky like two giant Christmas balls . They can also fly aboard the aerobar with mulled wine or a hot chocolate.

For the occasion, a new space will be open to the public, the Volcano of Passions. The little visitors will meet Santa Claus on his sleigh while enjoying Manalas or Bradeles, typically Alsatian specialties.

Thanks to the partnership with France 3 Ludo and Method Animation, new episodes of the Little Prince series will be released in the Park movie theater.

Besides, you can attend a particularly poetic and entertaining show, «  The Little Prince’s Earth. » This musical tale of 45 minutes immerse visitors in the epic story of The Little Prince. Awarded by the Jury Prize at European Festival Theatre, this modern piece directed by Arnaud Devolontat, is open to all, from 5 years to 105 years!

A new season for the family pass!

Launched in July, the family season pass for 99 euros (for 2 adults and 2 children under 17 years) has been widely acclaimed by local visitors. It is again proposed for the year 2015 (March 29, 2015 January 3, 2016). An original gift idea to give for Christmas! On sale at the shop of the Park and on the Internet.

The new comic books from the TV series is available !

When the Little Prince sets foot on this planet, the two people living on the planetare separated by a huge wall. Each one living in fear of the other. Both leaders -Rakash  and Ashkabaar – say they are negotiating with the other to bring the wall down.
The Little Prince helped by Shaaz  finds out that the two leaders are one and the same person: Ashkabaar who ruled on both side, divided his people to stay in power.

“One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye,” says the fox to the little prince in the French classic. True to these words, the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation is planning to launch a unique pioneering project of three-dimensional sculptures based on the theme of The Little Prince, in what will be a world first. This collection, created by French artist, Arnaud Nazare-Aga, will also be adapted for the visually impaired. This artistic attempt to bring Saint-Exupéry’s illustrations to life for those who otherwise would not have access them – the visually impaired – will be presented for the first time in Singapore at the French cultural festival, “Voilah!” in May 2015. Proceeds from the sales of these unique art pieces will benefit the Foundation’s philanthropic activities in favour of the education of disadvantaged children in Southeast Asia.
